Ben 1st Day Kindergarten, Take 1 and 2

Today was Ben's first day of Kindergarten at Calgary Christian School. We are so excited for him! He has been anxiously awaiting the first day all summer. My heart strings were tugged a bit, but he is only going to be going 2 1/2 days a week and we plan to do another year of kindergarten next year since the cut off dates are different in both the two countries and in the states. Earle asked me why I was not more upset, well it was because this is like the practice kindergarten year. We are so blessed to be able to send him to Calgary Christian if only for this first half of this year. It is a great school! If only there were a school like this, that was this affordable in the states! Ben is doing great, while still needing some help with writing his letters and some fine motor skills, he is actually reading quite a few words out of some pre-reading books. He has started to really try to sound out words that he sees and is getting the concept of rhyming words on a page in a sequence. So we are super proud of him and we feel like this should be a great year for him!! We were supposed to start school on Wednesday. We took pics and got him all ready with his backpack and gear and took him to school. The school had been doing some maintenance work and had been resealing the windows in his classroom. When they arrived on Wednesday, the fumes were really strong, and his teacher is 8 mo. pregnant, so they post-poned the starting day until today. Some of the above pics are from the faux day.
